Mary was born in Stamford, Connecticut in 1954 and raised in Boston, moving to the midwest to raise a family. She received a certificate in poetry writing and an MA in Art Education at the University of Cincinnati. She has worked in several artistic mediums, starting out as a fiber artist, publishing poetry both regionally and nationally, and participating in somatic education and performance as a dancer. She has been hand-printing for over 25 years and has been exhibiting work from a full range of printmaking techniques during that time period, from bold graphic black and white relief prints to lush abstract monotypes. Her most recent visual work uses the collagraph printmaking technique, printing from plates created through a collage of textures, to evoke mysterious and monumental landscapes.
